Many colonies in India receive no support and are left to fend for themselves. For those who work the daily wage can be R200 which is around £2 a day. In such poverty it has always been our mission to reach our neighbors and show our love and care for them.
From orphans to those children who probably haven't had a meal. We as a family will reach out to the colony children and give them the care and attention they need. There seems to be an endless stream of children in need in India, but we will always do our best to extend our hand and give where possible.
The Bethany Leper Colony based in Andrha Pradesh is dear to our hearts. We want to continue supporting this organisation which often receives very little help and funding. They are cut off from a lot of mainstream society and we look to connect with them and supply them with the basic provisions they need.
Many of the young girls and women are incredibly gifted and creative. We want to pass on our knowledge of crafts so families can support themselves. We help them in the areas of threading, bracelets and handbag making to tablecloths.
HKM is always on mission and this includes the spiritual element also. As a family we will reach out to those who are sick and needy and those who have declared faith but do not have a local fellowship. Recently our church expanded into Thotagunta Colony where HKM now meets on a Sunday evening with believers who live outside of the main church campus area. We want to take church with us wherever we go and hope to expand into more colonies in the future.
